Going to University in Manchester? Read your essential student guide here

Manchester’s quickly become one of the hottest metropolitan areas in the UK. With a huge selection of bars, nightclubs, restaurants and a wide array of other activities we couldn’t recommend this city more for Fresher Students.

The city is home to 3 Universities, The University of Manchester & Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) which are both situated along the Oxford Road corridor connecting the Universities to  Fallowfield campus via the infamous ‘curry mile.’ And then Salford University, which as the name suggests is situated North of Manchester in Salford, however the University is still within walking distance of the city centre.

In terms of nightlife and events, Manchester has so much to offer. Deansgate Locks is home to the city’s most popular weekly student nights, it’s also home to huge freshers events such as The Big Freshers Lockdown which takes place there every Freshers Week.

Heavily worth a mention is The Warehouse Project, at the Mayfield Depot, a true rite of passage for every Manchester student into their music. Manchester’s also home to a number of truly special festivals, with Parklife taking place annually just outside the centre of Manchester. And Hide&Seek Festival, a unique experience with an enchanted feel set in the countryside just outside of Manchester.
